With the new year comes a new exciting US Regions integrated unit as we explore the question, "How do the regions in the United States influence my life?" The kids are working in region teams to explore, research, curate information, and create an informational text and "Amazing Race" challenge for grades 3-5. Across the 4th grade, we're working on informational text reading, essay writing, along with studying the US Regions in geography. We're covering the same topics, but what we've done is integrate the US Regions theme throughout the entire day into a project-based model. Mrs. Nye has been an awesome help planning & doing some of the interactive read alouds with your children. When your child logs into Spelling City, you'll notice some of the additional spelling words are scientific vocabulary we're learning throughout the week.
